What is Hatha Yoga?

Hatha Yoga is the most widely practiced form of yoga in the world. Hatha Yoga uses postures and conscious breathing in combination with mental focus to develop awareness, strength and flexibility, and relaxation. Through harmony and conscious action of the body, Hatha Yoga brings balance, strength, and sense of well being for the practitioner. Flow-Based Hatha Yoga uses movement and breath together to produce a stream that leads from one posture to the next.

Hatha Yoga is usually translated as the yoga that brings union "of the pairs of opposites." Hatha Yoga is sometimes also translated as "yoga forcefull", because it requires a lot of physical effort.

Hatha Yoga has two essential purposes. The first is that for any real practice of meditation, one needs at least posture in which one can be very comfortable for long periods of time. Posture is more like one can master, the better the basis for developing the inner meditation techniques. The second objective of excercising asanas in Hatha Yoga is to bring health and energy for the body and mind by opening a vein. When doing these exercises regularly perfomed, the path of hatha yoga is opened automatically, although we still have to follow further. Mere mastery of posture is a goal in itself, though mastering various postures certainly strengthens will power and concentration and the habit of not paying too much attention to the input of information by the senses.
