What is Pilates

Pilates is a method of exercise that aims to encourage the use of the mind, keeping the core muscle strength, stability and flexibility, resulting in more efficient and more graceful movement to develop.

It is an exercise system that keeps the body balanced and is essential to provide support for the spine. In essence, Pilates teaches awareness of spinal approach to deep core muscle strengthening, which for care and prevention of back pain, the rehabilitation of many musculoskeletal problems, and is improving the physical and athletic performance significantly.

Pilates trains the core muscles to be strong and works properly with the more superficial muscles of the body resulting in efficient, painless movement.

The Pilates approach focuses on quality over quantity. Pilates exercises do not include many repetitions for each movement, but alternately, every exercise is done with precision. This achieved significant results in a shorter time than you'd ever imagine.

People who exercise pilates report periodically, that the main benefit of Pilates is more lean, and more dignified and efficient with their movement.

Pilates exercises are performed either on a mat on the floor or on exercise equipment. Pilates Matwork can also incorporate the use of a variety of props such as the fitness ball, foam roller, circle, theraband, hand weights, Chi ball or Overball, strap and the Pilates pole.
